Dave Tombleson rears his ugly head

Dave Tombleson resurfaced on the NSGD/A Athens email group, and provided a nutshell of his post-Athens history:

• Went back to Monterey and did tour as SpanLing at Imperial Beach, CA.
• Got remarried. Had son, Jacob.
• Left Navy and became a cop. Hurt back and lost job.
• Opened company offering security consulting and executive protection.
• Went to Law School. Passed bar.
• Now partner in small law firm in Portland, OR.
• About to become a grandpa in June.

Great to hear from you, Dave!

A series of emails from several folks indicates that Don Levy left the Navy, went to Israel, became a Rabbi, joined the US Air Force and is now preparing to retire (this info mostly from Pete Skalski). Photographic proof:

John Granlund indicates that Don's religious reawakening took place shortly after he took up dancing with Dachshunds.

John says it's a long story. But I've never known that to stop John from talking, so we're eagerly waiting for him to spill the beans.

To promote his new book, Joint Task Force France, Igor will have a book signing on Saturday, Sept 11, 2004, from 1100 to 1400 at the Waldenbooks in Frances Scott Key Mall, 5500 Buckeystown Pike in Frederick, MD (that's at the intersection of I-270 and Rt 85).

I'm sure he'd love to see you there...especially if you buy a book or two.

Here we have graphic proof that staying in the Navy too long can wear you down. Twenty years ago, Igor had about a foot on George, but fate has taken its toll, as Pete Skalski's photo proves.

A-3 Dedication and East Med Get-Together

It was great to witness the dedication of the EA-3B in Vigilance Park at NSA, and to honor the seven who died aboard Ranger 12, as well as all those who died in support of naval cryptology while flying in the service of their country. It was also great to see so many former shipmates.

The "Up off the FLOOR and out the DOOR" Med DIRSUP reunion bash was great. We had quite a few folks show up, and much credit to Greg Altig for putting it all together. Here's Greg, with our bartender in the background:
